Business for Development (B4D) is focused on working with leading corporates, encouraging them to invest in business ventures that create sustainable and scalable economic development in emerging markets. As a leading NGO in Asia Pacific advocating for inclusive business, B4D’s focus is to reduce poverty in the region, through the economic empowerment of poor communities. This is achieved by transferring knowledge and technology, improving productivity and creating long-term equity for those communities, especially with smallholder farming communities. It does so with the support of government, the UN, global aid organisations and corporate leaders.

The founding CEO has overseen a period of sustained success, and is leaving to pursue new opportunities after a decade at the helm. The organisation is looking for a visionary CEO to lead B4D on the next stage of its amazing journey, to expand the business model, and generate new revenue streams and investment opportunities. A talented individual is sought to also play a role in leading systemic change at industry, government and NGO levels. Leading a passionate and committed team, you will:

  • Develop new inclusive business projects
  • Develop the IP and business model into a scalable asset
  • Provide appropriate governance, risk management & focus
  • Lead & develop a high performing team
  • Develop & grow membership, support & funding
  • Work closely with & keep the Board informed

You will have the opportunity to work alongside leading practitioners, shaping the environment for inclusive business in the region.

We’re looking for a skilled and experienced leader, a change catalyst with a business or consulting background. A thought leader, you must have experience influencing C-level business leaders, identifying commercial opportunities, developing business strategy, securing financial support and successfully launching new ventures. Commercially astute you should bring to the table visionary thinking and the capacity for thought leadership, along with lobbying and public speaking abilities. Other sought after qualities include optimism and resilience, problem solving, and an ‘unconstrained’ mindset. Experience in the food and/or agri sectors would be valuable. International travel of around 1 ½ weeks per month is anticipated.
