Established as an initiative of Base Titanium’s Community Development program, project partners include Syngenta, DEG, WWF, Kinondo Community Bank, Kenya Agricultural & Livestock Organization and Kwale County. The aim of the project is to increase income earning opportunities for farmers in close proximity to Base Titanium’s mining operations.
Now entering year two of the pilot program, Business for Development has begun negotiations with potential off-take partners for the supply of potatoes into regional markets for further processing. Business for Development is also trialing a range other crops and livestock opportunities for these farmers with the project partners including chicken, sorghum and cocoa.
